That's right folks HSB has finally recorded one of our songs that will be available on Definitely Superior Art Gallery's compilation of local bands that will be available this fall. The song we recorded is called Shoo-Fly Pie and thanks to the engineering stylings of Chad Dzurda it sounds great. We are hoping to play some shows again soon but with everyone having lives and crap to deal with it has been a tough summer. Don't fret though fans; you will be able to catch another Hair Straight Back show soon enough.
Also for those who are wanting to know...Kol is doing well and, yes yes Varga is still supersexy!! 3/26/2006 A Great Big Thanks to AllThanks
...to one and all who came to the show on the 25th we had a blast and we hope you all did too!!
As always, huge thanks go out to the boys from Profundus and The Way Back who were sensational and carried an air of professionalism with them on and off the stage that more than made up for our lack there of! HA HA
One more thank you goes out to the man up there... you know who you are (Frank Zappa for those who don't) and of course to the fans again for helping us raise $200 for the Starlight Foundation.
We had the usual immediate question of "When will you play again?" and to answer that we turn, as we do on most major issues, to Yoda... "Difficult to see...Always in motion is the future."

That's right folks Hair Straight Back will be performing live at Kilroy's on the 25th!! The fellas from The Way Back and Profundus have been kind enough to open for us so it will be an entire evening of rockin' n rollin'!!!
Tickets are $5 and we are hoping to raise some funds for the Starlight Foundation at the hospital in the way of voluntary donations so bring your heavy wallets!! Also note that this will NOT be an ALL AGES show.
1/25/2006 Time to recordMore Time Off For HSB!!
It would seem that HairStraightBack's winter break just turned into a year, potentially; but this is only from the live venues. We have decided to take some time off to record and get some product together so we can... well... have a product!!
Anyway, to the dismay of our dozens of fans city-wide we have no plans of performing until next fall. If something should come up as it always seems to do... I will keep you posted.
As a side note if you pass this site as a friend of ours please send out a stream of positive thinkins to Kol from wherever you are!! 1/6/2006 HOLY SHIT!!!Holy Shitballs!!
On December 29th, 2005. Hair Straight Back received crushing news... Our close friend and front man Kol Mackay was diagnosed with a brain tumor!! Kol as always is in great spirits and actually made us all feel good about the whole thing but we waited with baited breath as he was under the knife yesterday morning. At 12:00 noon January 5th, 2006 we received word that Kol was in recovery and all appeared to be well.
If you would like to forward any positive thoughts or comments on to Kol you can e-mail me at varga2k@hotmail.com and we will be sure that he gets it.
We appreciate you all being positive for Kol and remember... The force is with us (especially Kol)... always. 11/10/2005 An early look back at 2005Well it's been another slightly squandered but thoroughly enjoyed summer in HSB land. In the first half of this year we played two shows and then we did 3 in as many weeks over the past month. All along the way we have had many kudos and contacts made and appreciate it all. Thanks to the Wayback's and Sue is Fine's of Thunder Bay as well as to everyone else who has given us some exposure. When we are in Jamaica with ZZTop drinking fruit smoothies and 100proof rum we'll talk about you all.
We plan to take the bulk of the winter off to write some new material and work on some other sounds for a bit and to hopefully record a solid demo. We will come out of hibernation a new and refreshed HairStraightBack and look forward to shaking the ground under your feet in the near future!!!!!
